Planting The Stone

When God opens a door of opportunity for you, pray quickly for wisdom.  Then ask yourself this: “What one thing can I say in this circumstance, what one question can I ask, what seed can I plant that will get the other person thinking?  Give them something to think about — share your personal story.  And put that stone in their shoe. God will do the rest.

Pray For Revival In Our Church, In Our Community, And In Our Country

Our Country is at a critical stage, as our Pastor brought to our attention.  We need revival in our Church, in our Community, and in our Country.  We need to pray without ceasing for our Leaders at all levels — that they will look to God for wisdom in the decisions that they are and will be making.  Christians need to take a stand and be involved. Rather than allowing this land that we love to turn away from God, it needs to turn to God.  Join with us in making this a prayer concern.

What’s my life mission as a Christian?

Our Bible study material for this week, right out of the chute, asked the question “what’s my life mission as a Christian”.

As I got further into preparation, this question lingered in my mind and I noted several questions that arose which I thought should be considered in answering.

Following are those question and I asked you to prayerful consider them and come Sunday with your views and opinions.

What’s my life mission as a Christian?

  • Should I even reconsider what is my life mission, I mean, after all I’m retired now?
  • What is a life mission anyway?
  • If you were asked what your purpose in life is, would you answer with a list of goals?
  • Are my goals and my life mission the same, or should my life mission be much bigger than that? If so, how?
  • For what purpose has God created me, given me abilities and gifts to accomplish?
  • Is my life mission the reason I exist? Why God put me on this earth?
  • Am I still responsibile for allowing God to continue to fulfill the purpose He created me for even though I’m retired?
  • Should my life mission express my values, my spiritual gifts, my heart, my abilities, my personality, my experiences, and my commitment to God’s purpose for my life?
  • How then can I discover our life mission?
  • When I think about my life mission there are some question I feel must be considered:

1. What will be the center of my life?

2. What will be the character of my life?

3. What will be the contribution of my life?

4. What will be the communication of my life?

5. What will be the community of my life?

  • Will the answers to these questions reflect my life mission statement?
  • Should what matter, at the end of my life, not be what other people say about me, but rather, should what God is going to say about me matter most?
  • What do you want to hear him say?
  • I want to hear Him say, “Well done, James, you good and faithful servant”, don’t you? How then will I be able to ensure that He will enable to say that about me? Come Sunday for Bible study and let’s explore this intriguing topic together.

See you then!

James

Fellowship Dinner

Everyone present in our Sunday School Class gathering last Saturday evening enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship and good eats. We had a great attendance and missed those that were not able to be with us.  I want to thank Marguerite and Trecy, our Class Fellowship and Activites Leaders, for arranging this for us.  It is always such a special time when we have the opportunity to share each others’ company in Christian fellowship. I have to believe that this bring a smile to our Lord to see us strengthen our relationships in his name.

05/13/2012 Prayer Requests

The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor.  The one who kneels to the Lord, can stand up to anything.

Please make prayer a priority in your lives and pray for the following this week:

  • Healing for Diane that her serious infection will be cleared up.  Her smile and quiet calmness is missed from our group.
  • Safe travel for those in our group that are on the road – - Carl and Becky, Leroy and Trecy, and any that I might have forgotten or not been aware of.
  • Healing and comfort for Glenn for the migrane headaches that he so often endures.
  • A miraculous healing and comfort for Jordan Grisham. Keep Daryl and Kathy also in your prayers.
  • Healing for Freda’s friend Becky that is dealing with blood clots in her body, and for Denny’s co-workers husband who is dealing with cancer. Let’s also not forget Becky’s sister who also is dealing with cancer in her life.
  • A special prayer for Freda and Vicki in the situation that they face, and a special thanks for the continued growth of Vicki and Johnna in their Christian lives. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be with them on May 23rd to bring God the glory.
  • Pray that all of the student graduates will keep Jesus number one in their lives as they face the future during these times that can be very stressful to our young people.
  • Give God the praise for the successful surgery for Carolyn’s Uncle T.J. Tarver and continue to pray for his recovery and his comfort in the recent lose of his devoted wife.  He has been such a great witness to Carolyn (and almost a second father to her) throughout her life.

A Bouquet For Mother

A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles away.

As he got out of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing.

He asked her what was wrong and she replied, “I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother. But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars.”

The man smiled and said, “Come on in with me. I’ll buy you a rose.”

He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother’s flowers.

As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home. She said, “Yes, please! You can take me to my mother.”

She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave.

The man returned to the flower shop, canceled the wire order, picked up a bouquet and drove the two hundred miles to his mother’s house.

This puts it all into perspective.   Happy Mother’s Day.
